Nelson information Nelson's nickname 'Sunny Nelson' is well deserved with an average of over 2400 annual sunshine hours, laying claim to New Zealand's top sunshine spot. This temperate climate lends itself to a multitude of Cafes and wineries where vistors can sample local produce in beautiful surroundings. Once you've finished fishing for the day there are numerous other outdoor activities to tempt such as white water rafting, kayaking, diving, climbing, windsurfing, jet skiing, sea and fly fishing, skiing, tramping and just about anything else outdoors you can think of. Nelson receives around 230,000 vistors annually which has given way to a wide range of accommodation from B&B's and Backpackers to Motels, Lodges and Hotels. When night falls you'll also find a wealth of fine restaurants, cafes, pubs, bars and nightclubs to feed both your body and mind. You'll soon find that in Nelson just because you've hung up your fishing rod for the day doesn't mean the fun has stopped!
